Have done a bit of research but just wondering what the prognosis is for lung cancer?
My 81 yr old family member has 2 masses in 1 lung and 1 in the other, at this stage we aren't sure of the stage (and whether its spread to lymph nodes or even further out). Basically she doesnt want to proceed with treatment, but she may change her mind.

If she doesnt proceed with treatment, how long will it take for the cancer to spread and take over her body? She doesnt have an oncologist appointment for 2 months so we just want some information in the meanwhile.
thanks in advance.

Has your family member undergone a biopsy to determine what type of masses these are?

Yes she has had a biopsy of one of the masses which confirmed the cancer. Not sure whether she found out the actual type (as i understand there are 2 different types of lung cancer?). Sometimes she doesnt tell us the whole story...she won't find out much until February though when she sees the oncologist.
