The treatment I have been taking has my throat so sore I have difficulty swallowing let alone eat anything. Has anyone else had this problem and what helped you to get through it?

I haven't gone through this myself but I am a registered dietitian who has worked with cancer patients.

It is not unusual that the idea of a feeding tube (placed in the stomach to bypass the throat/esophagus) is an option in dealing with severe pain with swallowing.

Such a feeding tube need not be permanent; it can be removed once swallowing returns to normal. It can also be used as adjunct feeding; i.e., the patient swallows what they can and uses the feeding tube to make up the difference.

Has your physician prescribed one of the liquid products that can numb the throat a bit, making swallowing easier for some folks (i.e., Magic Mouthwash)?
