non-small cell lung cancer

My husband is 70 yrs old and had surgery for non-small cell lung cancer in Oct.2011. He had 4 sessions of chemo and 35 radiation treatments which finished March.2012. In April, he had a bad coughing spell and hurt his ribs. After going to the dr. through x-rays and cat scan, we were told he broke a rib and also the cancer has returned. After a pet scan, the oncologist told us the original tumor grew from 1cm to 4cm., there is an additional area of the same lung also showing cancer, it is in the lymph nodes in the middle of the chest and abdomen and also on both sides of the ribs. He has begun chemo again and is scheduled for a cat scan in a couple weeks.

I would like to discuss the survival rate and length of time. I am just trying to prepare myself and know what to anticipate. Thanks in advance for the information.
