My father in law at age 91 has stage 111 lung cancer, need help

My father in law at 91 we were told has a 7 cm stage 3 growth on his lung, and he quit smoking 40 years ago. Growth was found by accident on a CT scan for his back when he fell walking across the street. We are going to doctor tomorrow with him to deliver the bad news. I lost my mother at age 72 to small cell lung cancer/ she was a smoker. At his age of 91, what can anyone advise us if a chemo treatment for this cancer is even advised. Has anyone had someone so old go through lung cancer treatment, chemo and or raidiation? I remember it was painful for my mother, but my father in law has been mostly in good health. Should we put him through this? He is still of good mind but he has a wife also soon to be 91 who as dementia. Any advise you be helpful. Thank you for this website as it was not available when my mom died. Hope to hear some comments. Thanks.
