mom has small cell lung cancer

My was dx about 2 months ago. From what I've read the midpoint survival rate is about a year for limited small cell lung cancer. But, the oncologist remains very optimistic. I've seen that before with a friend who died of lung cancer, the oncologist was so optimistic until the week before she died. Someone told me that the docs see miracles everyday they cannot explain and that is why they believe a positive attitude is so important.

But, we are all still in shock with this diagnosis and also still in denial.
