Lung cancer

My Husband just been diagnosis with small cell extensive lung caner, because it metastasis to his brain, radiation and chemo was offer to him. the fist round of chemo he took very well. Then radiation was given to one small spot on his brain. Yesterday we went ti his second round of chemo, his blood test was given and he was denied chemo his immune system was too low for chemo. Since we don't no much about cancer it was very disappointing to him and my self we are puzzle and lost at this time. i was told to protect him from people who has colds, flu and other illness. what is happening?

When under-going any time of cancer treatment, a weakened immune system typically occurs. The drugs&radiation has the likelihood of targeting some of our bodys more essential cells, such as white blood cells(what our body uses to fight infections). Your husband should be okay assuming he is kept safe form infections until his white blood cell count returns to normal
