While reviewing what causes smoking cessation in people prescribed to zyban, I began to think of ways we could use this to get people to hate smoking when they hit their first cigarette. The reason zyban helps smoking cessation is body releasing norepinephrine in the brain, This is a feel good chemical and when someone is on a norepinephrine uptake inhibitor(NRI) such as wellbutrin and zyban the body is getting more of this feel good chemical. It has nothing to do with Nicotine because Nicotine is not in these anti-depressants yet many people quit smoking after being on them for a couple of weeks because it makes the cigarettes taste like butt-hole!(Personal experience). Anyways, do you guys think it would be a good idea to try to create an optional vaccine that parents can give their children while they are still young to prevent future smoking? A vaccine that has the same function as zyban by targeting norepinephrine. This would drastically reduce new smokers and promote some more happiness among youth.
