have been spitting up phlegm with amounts of blood in it. it sounds dumb but i have a bad feeling. how did other people come to the conclusion they had lung cancer? is this a big sign??

My mom has been doing that for the past few days also... I posted her situation an hour after yours. I dont know if this is common or not for this is all new to me, but when she was in the hospital a few weeks ago they said that it was good to cough phlegm up. But not sure about the blood.
