Mom is 78 with lung cancer

Early last month my mom who is 78 was diagnoised with lung cancer. They say she has a large mass on her right lung and it is inoperable. She also has problems with her heart, is down to 80 pds (5'6) and is pretty much bedridden. She is on oxygen and has no strength. Standing is a chore and walking is very rough. She can only do a few steps without having to stop and rest. We have been to the oncologist and for some reason they will not give us a stage. I feel in my heart that it is coming to an end for she is so weak and tired. But my main frustration is in getting no answers. Why do doctors do this? We have, on our own, called in hospice to help with her care. Any suggestions, similar stories, advice... would be most definately appreciated. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... My dad who is 76 and I are going nuts...

This may be too late for your mother but it may save other family members in their life.
