My husband is 74. Just diagnosed 4 weeks ago. With small cell lung cancer. It has spread to his bones and spot on his liver. He had his first chemo treatment 3 weeks ago. All he does is sleep he hardly eats. I told the doctor and because he is nauses sometimes and she gave him medication. He is suppose to have his next treatment in 2 days. His daughter just passed away in April of breast cancer. I have been married to him for 33 years. It breaks my heart to see someone I love so much suffer. Is there a light at the end of this meaning is this treatment suppose to give him any quality of life? The doctor said if he doesn't get treatment he will be gone in 2 months. But at least then he was able to enjoy life. Now he is a zombie all the time and sleeping all the time. I do not know what to do.
I have read lot of other peoples postings and I think the quality of life for advanced lung cancer and chemo is wrong. My husband is suffering so much he is not the same person. The doctor talked him into gaving at least 1 chemo treatment I think he is at the end so really think about what choice to make in your quality of life. ;(

My heart truely goes out to you. My mother who is 67 was just diagnosed about 3 weeks ago of lung cancer an they said there are some spots on her liver as well they say it is small cell. Mom went through her first doses of Chemo, just a week ago, now she is home an has her moments when she is in so much pain, her meds they prescribed her for her pain make her sleep. She goes to the Dr. tomorrow to see what he has to say about the test they ran on her. When I read you post I had to comment as I am so new to this. You are in my thoughts an prayers are with you and your husband. See this will be my Momma an Charlies 30th anniversary in May.

How is your momma doing today? My mom was diagnosed w non small cell carcinoma of her lower right lung and declined any further treatment. That was last August 5th. She has started complaining of her legs and hip hurting and i know the most common places of spread can be the bones. My mom is 64 so i figure you must be around my age and i read this and felt your pain. We are too young to be dealing w this!
