Hair loss and rash

Hello, Im new to this site. Im 34 and has had SLE for 10yrs now. I had hair loss when I was first diagnosed, well now Im having a bad skin rash around my hair line in the front. It looks like cradle cap, I have been to the dermatologist and he gave me cream, oil and shampoo and it worked, but a few weeks later I noticed bald spots and hair around the edges has come out. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or close to it. Thanks

psoriasis frequently can accompany lupus. I've used betamethasone dipropionate (lotion NOT CREAM) around the edges and it helps. But use it sparingly. For hair loss, the generic brand of Rogaine (minoxidil) in women's strength (2%) helps, but you have to use it religiously.

I have experienced hair loss from lupus, but not the rash around my hairline. Your dermatologist may be able to give you Kenalog (steroid) injections in that area to reduce inflammation and stimulate new hair growth. Getting scalp injections sounds much worse than it is! They use a very tiny needle so you hardly feel the injection at all!

I am completely hairless from the neck down. I love the fact that I don't have to shave anymore! But I don't like that my eyebrows are now almost gone as well. The hair on my head, random bald spots and my hairline in front too very sparse. Lotion on the rash on my scalp too.
I have also begun to wear wigs, as so much hair loss on my head. My doc recommend Biotin it is a vitamin. I also wear something called head line-it inside the wigs which absorb sweating and help me a lot. I think the hair loss to me at very was very upsetting. I have always worn bangs too so losing at my hair line in front was very noticeable.
I have learned to love my wigs, but they are not for everyone. I wear mostly Rene of Paris wigs and get lots of compliments. I still don't know how to answer though when people want to know who does my highlights! LOL
