Numb throat
ssh49tn posted:
Has anybody else had this problem with lupus? I take Effexor HR 75 for anxiety, & in the past, when I had a panic attack, my throat went numb, but I would hyperventilate. But, now, this has happened to me several times recently, & my throat, & sinus area, feel numb. I can swallow fine, but, not sure why I have this numb feeling. Plus I'm not hyperventilationg. so I'm not sure what's going on, or why. And, I sure don't plan on going to the ER! Last time I had a panic attack, the ER doctor was a REAL jerk. I did not think very highly of him at all. If anybody has any ideas, let me hear them!

Hello ssh49tn -

This certainly does sound frightening! I wanted to pop in to suggest you also post your experiences with our Anxiety and Panic Community. Dr. Patricia Farrell may have some suggestions or explanation for you.

Thanks for your input! I'm learning about lupus as I go, & the clinic I use is not much help when something is going on. They tell you to either make an appointment, for the next day, or go to the ER. So, I try to find advice from others. Meanwhile, the numbness has gone, for now any way.
