Why is the cause of Lupus unidentifiable.

I recently read information regarding penicilinand or, amoxcicilan being possible culprits in causing Lupus. If the medical community can supposedly identify when someone was infected with HIV why can't they do the same with Lupus.

HIV is a virus that can be detected with a blood test. Lupus is a more complicated. Since it affects everyone differently and can mimic other diseases, it is very difficult to diagnose.

There are different types of lupus: Discoid lupus which involves the skin, Systemic Lupus which can affect any part of the body and/or organs and drug induced lupus which can be caused by certain medications.

There is a lot of information in the Tips and Resources sections of this board (on the lower right had side) that may help answer many of your questions.
