IUI procedure with sperm issues

I had an IUI this morning and my husbands sperm count was 5 million. They said that was ok numbers. What should I expect out of this? His total count was 30 million but after washing was 5 millions great swimmers. This was after 38 hours of abstinence so would waiting a longer amount of time to have intercourse make a difference? I was a little upset with his numbers but know there is nothing i can do and hope that out of the 5 millions maybe one will make its journey to my egg or eggs. I am on 50 mg of clomid as well. I'll keep you posted. I am now on the 2WW which sucks but it's not too bad right now. Going on vacations soon so that will help alot. My husband also has a varicocele and tested borderline for motility, I don't know what that means, they assured me that he would still be able to get my pregnant probably without IUI but after 3 months of clomid and nothing we decided IUI is the best thing for us. I am so anxious to know our chances but I know it is unknown and varies with each couple and situation.

Most doctors like to see 5 million motile sperm for the IUI prepared sample for good results and looks like you made that cut. That means you have just as good chances as using 10 million motile. During natural intercourse only a select hundred get past the cervix and with IUI you are putting millions past into the cervix. It can take 3-5 tries but hopefully one does the trick!

That means you have just as good chances as using 10 million motile. During natural intercourse only a select hundred get past the cervix and with IUI you are putting millions past into the cervix. Aww thank you so much, i feel very good about this then. I also think his numbers may have been lower because of the amount of time was only 38 hours after intercourse and his work environment(works at Nucor Steel, are you familiar with them?) is 150 degrees and I feel like that also hurts his numbers along with his varicocele that he has so I think 5 million through all that is great now too. I am so thankful to God he made the cut 
We are only doing 2 IUI's then laparoscopy on me if they don't take. Thank you so much for your help and encouragement. The nurse also told me whether I had 5 million or 100 million that wouldn't increase my chances any by having above the 5 million mark so i am ecstatic! Yay, hope the first one takes. Our God is a God that can do ALL things!

I'm happy to help and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! The work environment and the varicocele are not in his favor for sperm quality. Those little sperm like cooler temps so he could always try icing his groin area in the evenings to relax and cool down the testicles. Grab a bag of peas, put a dish cloth between him and the bag or over the underwear and do 20 minutes on and 10 minutes off for a couple times each night. Vitamins like a fertility blended vitamin would also be helpful.

Well i am not preggo this time and will be having surgery this month! Hope to find something out on my part then going to try IUI again since his motility is lower no sense in trying naturally i guess! Still taking fertility vitamins too!

I haven't given up! Thank yo so much! I am fine waiting for now. I have a son that will be 2 in Oct. and he keeps me plenty busy! If it takes longer I am ok with it finally now after 14 months trying and have a peace about it! I have been on 4 rounds of clomid and 1 IUI with baby # 2! Hopefully after surgery and a appt for hubby's varicocele again we can resolve some issues and try again!
