I have a friend who has alcohol related dementia. While at a nursing home I thought of bringing him some reading material and a workbook would help him while away some of the hours just sitting there.

He had no interest in the material and so went no further than this.
But his psychologist said what I did was a bad idea and suspended me from visiting him for at least a month. She said I was a detriment to his care.

He does get agitated sometime for other reasons but his psychologist kept insisting that reading could cause him to be agitated if he can not answer a question. She also said to avoid asking a question such as how are you today or what did you have for breakfast could be a cause of agitation.

Comments please?
