Starting Yervoy (ipilimumab)

looks like I will be starting Yervoy approx Nov 1. I was diag w/colorless melanoma in Oct 2011; had the lesion removed and discovered node involvment in Aug 2012 (classified Stage III). I had too many tests to count and considered several options (because of chronic reumatoid arthritis and autoimmune problems I could not use)...the doctors tried Temodar, only to have more lesions appear. Mostly due to my request, my oncologist and family have made the decision to try the Yervoy, even though it is new on the market, but my dr says it has had good results. I decided it's worth a try, mostly because as of now we have not found any other involvement except the lymph system. We're hoping that it will stop any further spread (before it has much of a chance).

I have two questions: 1) anyone been diag w/colorless melanoma? from what my dr and the drs @ MDAnderson say it is fairly rare and harder to treat...I'll be glad for any input. 2) anyone used or currently using Yervoy? I'm very anxious about side effects and results.

Thanks for any input. I'm very happy to have found this discussion board. I look forward to talking with all of you. AggieMom04.
