melanoma of lower eye lid

oldyogachick posted:
My 84 year old aunt was just diagnosed with melanoma of the conjunctiva inside her lower lid. The area was excised 2 years ago by a plastic surgeon with the dx. of dysplastic nevus. The same plastic surgeon removed a newly formed lesion 1 month ago and this time the dx. is melanoma. He plans to do a further excision next week in an out-patient clinic with no Pathologist available. I feel this is inadequate care. Should a Mohs certified surgeon do this procedure? Should nodes be taken? Please help! Thank you, Deborah
