Crying and Hot Flashes - starting to get to me

Hello. I am 53 and as I write this I cannot stop crying.

I am happy with my life but in the process of menopause, I just could not take it anymore so I sought out a support group of women going through a similar situation.

My doctor suggests I take something natural but I am trying to just 'deal with this' without taking anything.

But, this non-stop crying is starting to get to me. I am not depressed. But, I guess I now need a support group to get through this challenging time.

Is there anyone else out there like me struggling with this? How are you coping?

I was also crying alot and hot flashes but I started using the
patch and thank god I did...everything stopped

My main "menopausal" symptoms (after an unwarranted hysterectomy 6 years ago) were suicidal depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I had many others but these were the most distressing!

Since the abrupt loss of hormones triggered these symptoms, it seemed reasonable that HRT would give me some relief so I take HRT. I'm still not even close to the person I was pre-hyst but I'm no longer suicidal (just mildly depressed), anxious and unable to function from lack of sleep! I only wish I could get back my joy for life and feelings of love and connection with others.

I hope this challenging time passes quickly for you regardless of whether or not you take something!

Dear Someonecares, Wow, that's pretty serious stuff. I am so sorry you have had to deal with this but glad it has gotten better. I can relate, I have had the same thoughts then go through the guilt of feeling that way. Especially being a Christian. I think the lack of sleep plays a big role in it. I also have severe migraines, which makes it worse. I am still searching for relief and trying to do the best I can. I never would of thought menopause would be so difficult. It's part of life. People kind of laugh it off but until you have been there you just don't know. Thank you for sharing, it does help to know we're not alone. God bless.

Thanks Victoryinjc. I realized after I posted that I didn't mention how devastating it was to also lose over 1/2 my hair within 4 months post-op. And it's still falling out (6 years post-op). I must have had some regrowth over the years though because I'm not bald yet but it's VERY thin and fine!

You shouldn't feel guilty for your feelings! We can't help how we feel but we can control (to some degree) how we act on those feelings. Hope things start improving for you!

I understand what your going through. I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 47 but went through horrible menopause symptoms in my early and mid 50's. After feeling like I was losing my mind I had to make a decision. I chose taking HRT and have not regretted it. Sometimes you have to pick your poison, feeling miserable or enjoying this stage of your life. I use a hormone patch to receive my HRT. Don't waste time feeling bad. Try all the various methods for relief until you find what works for you. Life is good and you deserve to enjoy one with quality.

I eat healthier now, work out and am losing weight slowly... my hot flashes still make their appearance but not as often. I notice them most when I eat white flour, white potatoes, and junk food! Since I cut these out, this mayyyy be the reason my hot flashes are fewer.
