I have been to my OBGYN and I have had two blood tests to check if I was in menopause and I am not. He prescribed mydroxyprogesterone for 10 days to bring on a period. I was recently diagnosed with empty sella syndrome and was wondering if this could be the reason. My OBGYN did not agree he blew this off and said people are born with it. My periods have been regular every 24 days since I was eleven so if that was the case I am sure I would have had issues before this. I also had the hot saline ablation about 5 years ago which helped control the bleeding but I still kept on a regular schedule. So he wants me to take this progeterone every month for 10 days to bring on a period but I would like to know what has caused me to stop getting them.

Actually you are at the right age for that to happen. But I'm wondering why your dr said to take the progesterone to START your period and my dr said to take it to STOP my period becasue it was lasting too long. I took it for ten days, and my period stopped and never came back yet.

I'm no doctor, but I think you need a second opinion, Janet.
I am 49 and haven't had a period in five months, too, but I am in menopause. How can your OBGYN even rule that out? It's not unusual to stop menstruating at our ages.
As for me, I pray this is the end of periods. Right now, my body is fighting to have one/not have one about every month and it's miserable. I'm a mess during that week or two!
Please get a second opinion.
