Been spotting for almost two wks. I feel like the other ladies, nervous, scared. No pain no funny stuff just spotting. Just want to be reassured that it's the process. Oh did I mention aim 51! Just hearing others with the same symptoms makes me feel better. Still I just want it gone.

Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear An_245426,
Indeed, many women do get spotting as part of their perimenopausal issues, related to "funky ovulation". However, I usually advise my patients to check in with me if they get persistent spotting. If it spontaneously resolves, and doesn't come back, it is usually just related to the hormonal changes; however, if it keeps coming back, I usually do a ultrasound of the uterus, or sometimes a biopsy of the lining of the uterus, to check for things like polyps in the lining. So definitely don't worry, but if the spotting persists, do check in with your gynecologist.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
