I am 53 and I have not had a period for well over 3yrs. about 8 months aago I started spotting sometimes dark sometimes red and sometimes ppink but always one or the other with maybe a day of not doing either one or two days a month. When it is dark it has a odor. I have been bleeding for almost 3 months straight this time with only a couple days out of the 3 months of not bleeding at all. It is not heavy but sometimes is more than others through out that days. I have slight pain occas. in my pelvic area no cramping no bloating no pms but I am getting tired more often but it is getting on my nerves and I have done some sort of bleeding for 3 months straight now. No clots. I had a ultra sound done a week ago and will talk to the doc on the 4th but am wondering all the time what this might be. Thank you .. Carol

I have also had 2 tubal preganancies many yrs ago like 22 yrs ago they took out my tubes and a partiall side of my uterus on the last one I had. I have scar tissue from those surgeries and a hernia surgery on the left side. My sex drive has went out the window and have not been able to have sex without the aid of lubrications. I thought the bleeding was due to having an orgasm but we stopped having sex and I have still not stopped bleeding. Thank you Carol

Mary Jane Minkin, MD replied to cherihill242's response:
Dear Cherihill242,
It was a good idea to do the ultrasound to check on the bleeding-there might be a polyp in the uterus, or there could be some overgrowth of the lining of the uterus; it is possible that you may need a sampling of the lining of the uterus, or even a full D and C; these are straightforward procedures that gynecologists do every day, so not to worry-but do follow up with your physician,
Good luck,
Mary Jane
