Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Jams86,
Good question-of course, men's hormone levels do go down, too-in general, the lowering of testosterone is not as abrupt as the estrogen levels go down in women, but there certainly could be something like that going on. It is possible to measure testosterone levels; and you could ask your family physician to check into that for you. And plenty of men do take testosterone supplements (and there are prescription testosterone products available for me)
Good luck,
Mary Jane
