Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear An_246685,
Good question. Actually, it would be unusual for the synthroid to trigger menopause: but it certainly can independently trigger hot flashes-my question would be are you on too high a dose of synthroid now? Do check in with your health care provider to see if the dose needs to be adjusted; mention your hot flashes.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
