Bleeding after Menopause
avatar
warnk posted:
It has been about a year since I had a period, I am 56, last exam the doctor said I had gone through menopause. She never called back to say any of my test showed abnormal. Then suddenly I started minor bleeding and after one and a half weeks, now it has been three weeks, it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Two questions, It is hare to get in to see my doctor how long should I wait? Should I try and cry myself into another ob/gyn? I feel okay other than I am more tiered and I do not feel motivated to exercise. I am bot sure how critical or serious this problem is or will become.
Thanks for any comment especially if you have been here.

Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Wamk,
If it's been a year without a period and you are now bleeding, yes you definitely want to contact your doctor. You didn't mention how long ago she examined you; if it was very recently, and the exam was fine, she may just want to send you for an ultrasound. But she should have a triage nurse that you can speak with in the office, if she's hard to speak with. Do speak with the triage nurse and see how the doctor would like to proceed.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
