My first day on HRT

barbra66 posted:
I am 49 and was not actively experiencing hot flashes, but was having other problems. I was experiencing exhaustion, crankiness and depression. I have never been this tired in my life! I was not sleeping well, just couldn't rest and was always sleepy during the day. My doctor started me on a low dose of HRT yesterday and this morning before getting out of bed I felt hot. After taking my shower and getting dress I was hot and sweating. I never had hot flashes before. Has anyone else experience this or can weigh in on this? I was hesitant to take HRT, but the tiredness was having a negative impact on my daily life and was willing to try anything to help

Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Barbra66,
I'd give the estrogen therapy a chance. It will probably take a while to kick in, and hopefully it will give you some better quality sleep so you don't feel so tired.
good luck,
Mary Jane
