I am 56 yrs. old. I did not have a period for 5 years. This year I started having brownish discharge periodically. This week it turned into a very thick mucousy discharge. Now it has changed to a fullblown period with bad cramps & really heavy bleeding. ( change pad every 1-2 hrs). Has anyone else had this happen or should I be concerned.
Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Grandma7kids,
Please don't worry, but please go to see your health care provider; any bleeding after a year of no periods needs to be investigated.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
