I'm 52, i haven't had a period in 6 months, then all of a sudden, 3 months in a row and sometimes it lasts 2 weeks at a time. I thought it would be getting less instead of more. When will it end? Is there anything I could take to speed up this process. Why all of a sudden i'm having periods every month again?
Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Bootsinvegas,
Alas, there is nothing to speed up the menopausal process; but (see response to violet creams) progesterone can be used to help regulate the bleeding, so that you aren't bleeding all the time. So do not despair, things can be controlled, in general.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
