Dear Tinie1P,
This certainly could be the beginning of perimenopause. As you have probably read on the site, this is a very difficult diagnosis to make, and often it is made retrospectively. One way to help control the bleeding issue is to take some progesterone periodically; it will trick the uterus into thinking you have ovulated (which is when your body makes progesterone) and then, when you stop taking the progesterone, you will get a withdrawal, or clean out bleed, which is usually much better than a heavy non progesterone controlled bleed. Another option for women who are good candidates are low dose birth control pills. So there are several options for folks.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
