    hysterectomy/post menopause
    An_251152 posted:
I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 28 due to a class 3 pap. They left the left ovary and the 'play pen'.

Since I have not had to deal with monthly hormonal swings, I am now wondering about my 'moods'.

Now that I have gone through menopause, I am wonder if the way I feel, anxious and irritable, is the way I'm going to be?

    I am 61.
    Anon_6061 responded:
I became anxious, irritable, suicidal, sleep-deprived, and a "blithering idiot" (couldn't remember ANYTHING) after my hysterectomy. My body was crying out for estrogen. It's helped restore some of "me" but not nearly 100%. But at least I'm not quite so overwhelmed and irritated by every little thing.
