I am 49 and believe I am going through menopause. My questions is this. Is it normal to have a period off and on during one month. I have always been like clock work until this month, started around the first of the month, lasted about 3 days, then started again the next week and have been bleeding on and off daily for about 10 days now.

Probably just the whacky periods that can be typical of peri-menopause. There's no predicting how things will progress - longer, shorter cycles, heavier bleeding, lighter bleeding, spotting, anything goes! Hang in there! Some women's periods are so unpredictable or heavy that they go on birth control pills during this time frame. Hoping for a relatively easy transition for you.
