bleeding after 1+ years with no period
jennleec posted:
Hi I am a 46 year old mother of 5. My youngest is 13 and I had my tubes tied after her birth in 2000. I have had menopause symptoms for the last 2 years and my dr saidl premenopausal.. no period for over a year then this morning I noticed cramping and bleeding, not a ton but not expected. Any ideas?
Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Jennleec,
It indeed is not uncommon, particularly for a young woman such as yourself, to have the return of some menstrual function, even after a year without bleeding. However, I would suggest that you call your health care provider; even though it is unlikely to be something abnormal, it could be-all bleeding occurring more than one year after your last menstrual period should be addressed with your health care provider.
Good luck, and I hope all is well.
