I'm 57 and still getting monthly periods, and all the other symptoms of menopause; can't sleep at night, hot flashes daily, lost my sexual desire, etc.. I also have fibroid tumors and heavy periods. I'm trying to help myself the nature way; black cohosh, evening primrose, soy milk, but no results.

Is this normal?

Surely menopause can't be too far off and things should settle down somewhat then. At least you won't have the heavy periods to contend with.

Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding and estrogen fuels their growth. Black cohosh and soy milk are estrogenic so may be exacerbating the bleeding. A low dose combined HRT or even birth control in the short term may help all your symptoms. Hope this is short-lived!
