mood swings and perimenapause

hi I am having a lot of symtoms but most of all a lot of mood swings is there anything natural out there that is good to take for the mood
swings? is estroven any good? thanks
Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear cuteangel,
Estroven is a good product; it has black cohosh and soy derivatives, and may provide some relief. If you are looking specifically at mood issues, some folks recommend St. John's wort, which acts like an SSRI-it is very popular in Germany for depression. Just make sure you get a good product. And if these do not help, do speak with your health care provider; there are many medications which could be helpful; there are many bioidentical prescription estrogens and progesterones available.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
