Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear REM27358,
Alas the answer is yes; but what all women need to know is that not only are they at risk for acquiring HPV, they can also get basically all other STD's, including herpes and HIV. So I would strongly recommend that anyone getting involved in a new relationship use a condom; menopause does not protect against STD's-thanks for bringing up this issue.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
