Menopause and bladder issues

Hi all. New to the boards. 50 and in the throes of menopause. In my 40"s I had the night sweats and hot flashes. 50 is bringing my mood swings and depression. But what really bothers me is the chronic bladder infections. Not really infections per my doctor but changes in my bladder wall which causes me to have bladder urges 24/7. The entire month of May I've had this. The dr would like to put me on Vagifem for this. I;m a little nervous to try hormone therpay what with the the risks. Anyone else experience this? Thank you.

Hi laeric,

First of all, welcome to the Community! While you wait for others on the board to hopefully chime in with their experiences, you may be interested in looking through some reviews from other WebMD readers of Vagifem in our Drugs & Medications Center. Hope this helps!

Best wishes,

I also have been dealing with depression, mood swings, hot flashes and night sweats. Read some of my discussions to read more. A few years ago I thought I was having constant yeast infections. I was always itching and burning and discomfort during sex. I used a lot of over the counter solutions but none of them worked. I finally went to the GYN and she put me on the Vagifem and it made all the difference in the world in how I felt "down there". I would highly recommend it. Also just a few days ago my GYN put me on Premarin tablets and it's already making my mood swings and depression better. If you just want to treat the hot flashes, try black cohosh. It worked great for me.
