Hair loss and menapause?

I have noticed for the past few weeks that I am losing a lot of hair in the shower. I am just wondering if this is part of menopause or not? I have been losing a few strands of hair for about 6months - but nothing like this.

Menopause and thyroid dysfunction are two common causes of hair loss. I am in "surgical menopause" and I lost a HUGE amount of hair in a matter of months. And it has never stopped falling out. Are you having any other menopausal type symptoms?
