I am almost 54 , my periods stopped about a year ago , though I had one normal one about 6 months ago....every once in awhile I get horrible cramps like Im going to start but nothing . IB works well to get rid of the pain , but I never even had cramps when my period was normal! Should I be worried or is this part of it ?
Thank you
Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear An_257431,
Pain is not a typical menopausal complaint. Do mention it to your health care provider next time you see him or her for a check up. It is possible (not common, but rarely does happen) that your cervix is relatively shut tight-and if there is blood there, it isn't escaping-your doctor can easily stretch your cervix during a pelvic exam, if that is the case.
Good luck,
Mary Jane
