Dear boots531956,
Welcome to the site, and I'm sure you'll get good helpful answers from our folks. Sorry to hear about your husband, and certainly all stressors can contribute to hot flashes, which indeed can show up in all sorts of ways. If you do have high blood pressure, the medication your doc may have been speaking about is clonidine, which can help hot flashes. Also, beta blockers (such as atenolol) can also help, as well. If you are thinking about non prescription remedies, many women find black cohosh, such as Remifemin, helpful
Good luck,
Mary Jane
