Does drinking diet soda affect hot flashes?

I had a total hysterectomy in 2005. I am not any hormones and am going thru surgical menopause. The hot flashes had gotten better for awhile. Now they are back and getting worse. Has anyone found that drinking diet soda gives you more/worse hot flashes? I have switched from regular soda to diet soda. I wasn't sure if that would have any affect on the hot flashes.

Thanks Jessica

Same here. My hot flashes were getting better also then I started drinking Pepsi Next to cut out some calories and the hot flashes are more frequent and intense than before and that is the only change made so I was wondering the same thing. Anyone else?

The only thing is Pepsi Next is not a diet soda - it contains sugar just less than regular Pepsi. But I too have had some issues when drinking diet sodas - I usually end up with a slight yeast infection - took me awhile to connect but it seems to be the culprit.
