Estring worked for me
Sandy1212 posted:
I've had this problem periodically since menopause - I am now 67. Cure for me was Estring, which actually causes a pleasant sort of sweet odor "down there" at least for me. Estring is a form of HRT so prescription is needed.

Mary Jane Minkin, MD responded:
Dear Sandy1212,
I don't think this sounds strange-I'm delighted you're doing well. Estrogen in the vagina causes the cells that line the vagina to "plump up" with something called glycogen. This encourages the growth of "good guy bacteria" called lactobacilli, which tend to keep "bad guy bacteria" at bay-so you have a happier and healthier vaginal flora, in general.
Stay well,
Good luck,
Mary Jane
