    Question on varicocele
    An_249369 posted:
I have a varicocele for so many years it never hurt until a few days ago it started hurting. Is it something I should be concern about? If yes, is it life threatening and do I need immediate surgery?
    Sheldon Marks, MD responded:
I think I just answered this other previous post. Unless there is testicular torsion with twisting of the testicle and extremely excruciating pain, then you really need urgent intervention or surgery. However pain down there must be seen and evaluated and probably have a testicular ultrasound to make sure that there's no tumor or infection or other serious problems going on. You never ever want to assume that is simply the varicocele.
