They figure it out all on their own. Sometimes in the womb.
I know a 2 year old girl who has truly mastered it.
Truth be told, I'm a little jealous. While I try not to watch as she molests the pillow, she's having multiples for sure.

sex talk.
I had a second cousin mother tell me to tell her son about the birds and bees.. he was only 10 .
This came after he asked me a question and I sent him to his mom. So, I got a book.. and we went over the body parts of men and woman.. masturbation.. erections.. wet dreams.. periods.. and having babies. I let him ask any and all questions.. Nothing to leave out..and if he had any question to go to his dad, or if his dad wanted to, to come to me.

One of the best parts of being gay, is you're not supposed to get stuck with the crap work of child rearing.
I guess it is a real show of respect for you, that rather that do it herself, or ask the boy's father to do it, she trusted you more.
The kid probably got a much better deal...more honest and open information.
