just about to turn 40 and it seems as though for my annual check up it is very vague. what should they be checking.

some of my colleauges say they have to wear a gown and dr checks them from head to toe and it can last an hour.

You may want to google- male exam. There are video clips that will give you a view of what to expect. Also web md explains the test that are important for all men. Request your doctor does each of these.

many doctors will begin doing a DRE (rectal exam) because of you age. Many guys don't like them, but I actually enjoy it!

This exam should be as commom as a blood and urine test, I have annuals and so far have only had a PSA, I questioned my Dr. as well because there is a family history of prostate cancer and he is well aware and has not done this. I think I need to get a second opinion.
