Sex problem for senior men

What causes the senior man (age 78) to lose sexual interest and drive? I have a dear friend who is married and in his senior years and has lost interest in sex in the last 6 months. He is happily married. He is fit and healthy except for osteoporosis in the shoulder. I know this situation he now finds himself in is worrying him. He is not on any medication.
