Migraines and cranial nerve

My 24 year old daughter gets migraines regularly. She had a scary experience last week while driving. One entire side of her face went numb. Her PCP said that it could be compression of the cranial nerve due to migraines and stress.Has anyone heard of this? She was terrified that she was having a stroke or had a blood clot. She had extreme pain in her jaw the day after the experience and has had dull pain there since. I've encouraged more testing, but the PCP is not recommending it. Help!
