Hello, I am new to this part of the site.. Went to see a neuro today and he ruled out a lot of things but said I could be having migraines without/with the pain. He put me on topamax. I have a question why would a dr put me on an anti sezure medication? I go back in a month to see if the medicine is working.

Aside from triptans, no medications have been developed for migraine. But a number of people being treated for other conditions have noticed a decrease in migraines resulting fro meds taken for those conditions. Topamax is one of those medications which does reduce or eliminate migraines for some people.
