I started acupuncture treatments in early June; the pain level & duration of my migraines & other headaches decreased dramatically.
Duh- NOW, I realize that when I renewed my Topamax & got the generic stuff in July - my migraines started to return! They have been increasing & increasing! Fall is typically a "bad" time of year for me with migraines, but now I think the generic Topamax is a contributing factor.
I can NOT afford the nearly $800 for a 3 month supply of Topamax. I almost fell off the couch when they pharmacy called & offered me the option of re-filling my script w/ the generic. Originally, I told them as a patient I was not the person medicall authorized to make that decision; however they must contact my doctor to get his permission to fill the script as generic or DAW. (I really do NOT like this pharmacy! I have no choice but to use this one for my 90 day scripts - gggrrr!)

I take Topimarate which is the generic Topamax. I have not had an issue.
BUT! The FDA allows a 20% variation in the generic medications. So one dose of Topamax for you might be the correct amount while the next dose might be 20% less than that. The FDA also allows a 10% variation in all name brand drugs as well.
in a search on this board using (generic topamax) i came up with this page -- boards.webmd.com/webx?newSearch@@.5987f447. it has 88 references to webMD discussions that cover generic topamax (generic topamax is called topiramate). i'm not sure whether the website address would come up the same every time; that is why i showed the actual search terms that i used.
using only the search term "topiramate," i found 29 references to webMD discussions; these were at -- boards.webmd.com/webx?newSearch@@.5987f447.
a quickie summary is that many posts say that the generic topamax has not worked as well for migraine sufferers as the brand-name topamax. i have been taking the generic topamax and have had no migraines since i started taking it, but i have no reason not to believe other people's accts in this regard.
