questions for mothers of twins

Hi! I'm Erin and I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with twins. My husband and I have a 20 month old daughter already. My question is what are your suggestions of the best double stroller/car seat combinations to buy. I have been trying to find a double stroller that accepts infant seats and there aren't that many to choose from. Any suggestions? Also did you have 2 cribs right away or did they share a crib at first? Any advice on preparing for twins is much appreciated! Thank-you.

Hi Erin. I have 7 month twin baby girls We have the Snap N GO stroller which is what other twin mommies recommended when I was asking around. It works great for the carseats but once they graduate from carseats, they will need something else. I think you can find it online for around $80-$100. I actually scored mine used at a local moms of multiples group's consignment sale. You should check to see if there are any such groups in your area. They are very helpful and I've been in touch with a bunch of mama's that were pregnant and due around the time I was so it's fun to see our babies grow up and to do playdates with other twins, etc. Good luck to you! Oops forgot to mention, we did do 2 cribs to begin with but we also got the double pack n play by graco that comes with a double bassinet to begin with. In the end they seemed to like their cribs better so we only had them in their bassinets in our room for like a week (once they were home from the NICU). I think our room is a bit drafty and their room is nice and cozy.

Hi Erin - I'm Karyn. My twins are currently 5 months old. I wanted to suggest the Graco Quatro Tour Duo stroller w/ the Graco SnugRide car seats. I believe they hold up to 35 lbs. The stroller is great but a little heavy for me (I'm 5'1" 124 lbs). Its also very easy to assemble, it rides nicely and its easy to maneuver. As for the cribs I did what JJMarie did and I did have both my cribs. I just wanted my babies very close to me. We have the double bassinet pack n' play aswell and it worked for a few weeks but the base of the bassinet started to warp so I think that is why my babies weren't sleeping well in there after a while. I suggest having both your cribs ready. Maybe you can put one crib in your bedroom for the first month when you bring them home or try the bassinet idea. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hands down the Kolcraft Options tandem...... I am so attatched to this stroller and will never ever let it go!!!!!! just in case i get multiples again lol.... the seating options and double car seat attatchments are by far better than any other stroller... I got 3 strollers for my baby shower a side by side- no good I gave it away, a graco duogiler- I hated it it was heavy and hard to handle I sold that one to a childrens consignment shop I also got the Kolcraft tandem... I LOVED it immediately, and have been using ti for 2 years......it stays in the back of my van at all times no jokes.

Hi! I have twin 15 month old boys. They are my only children and they are the most precious people in my life. Now, to answer your question...I love my Graco double stroller. It also accepts the car seat when they're new born. When they're sitting up on their own, they just sit right on the stroller and they're quite comfortable. The back seat even reclines if one of them has fallen asleep. It's great because it has lots of storage on the bottom, two cup holders for mommy, and a cup holder and snack holder for each twin. I also started them on seperate cribs immediately because I just felt it was safer as well. I have their fancy cribs in the nursery and the portable playpen/bassinet that I can roll around wherever I need it. Good luck, you'll be great!
