Is this normal?
MJCole posted:
Had a test where the doctor told me to stand with my feet together, arms out in front of me and then close my eyes. I immediately started wobbling all over the place. Felt like I was going to fall over. Only after a few moments he said ok I've seen enough, and made me open my eyes. Is it normal to wobble all over the place and not be able to stand still? I had the rest of my family do this, and all of them were able to stand perfectly still.
Neil S Lava, MD responded:
The test that your doctor used is called the Romberg test. We consider it abnormal if a patient can not maintain the posture and falls down (obviously we don't let the patient fall to the ground).
I can not comment on your experience since I did not see it.
I suggest you ask your doctor what he saw and what he thought it might mean.
