Relapse length?

Hi, I was diagnosed with MS in 2005. I was hit with multiple symptoms at once and that is how they knew to test me for MS. I have never had a relapse until summer of this year and again I was hit with several symptoms. I seen my neurologist and he dx me with my first relapse. He sent me for a MRI; but I have not seen him for the results yet. He, also, prescribed 3 days of IV steroids. For a week after the steroids, my symptoms seem to get better. But, then, they started to return. Is that normal for a relapse? How long does it take to get over one? Should I call the doctor and tell him about the return of the symptoms?
